1080p LCD projector models featured on this website include these three manufacturers: Epson, Mitsubishi, and Panasonic. Prices on these Full HD 1920 x 1080p LCD projectors range from less than $3000 to about $4000, at a much
lower price range than the 1080p DLP projectors.
Inside an LCD projector, light from a lamp is directed to 3 small LCD panels that
process the red, green, and blue light components separately. The pixels in each panel regulate the amount of light passing
through them by twisting and untwisting in response to tiny electrical voltages. Then the three colored beams are combined by a
prism and projected onto your projector screen by a lens.
One advantage to LCD
projectors over DLP projectors is that LCD projectors are not
susceptible to the "rainbow effect" that viewers sometimes
experience as scenes transition from black to white while watching
DLP projectors. Disadvantages to LCD projectors include the
possibility of the "screen-door effect" especially with lower
resolution video sources, and black levels and contrast ratios that
are not as deep as competing front projector technologies. |
