1080p LCD home theater projector models featured on this site include these
four manufacturers: Epson,
Panasonic, Sanyo, and ViewSonic. Prices on these
4 Full HD 1920 x 1080p LCD projectors range from less than $2000 to
about $3000, which is a much lower price range than the 1080p DLP home theater projectors.
Inside an LCD projector, light from a lamp is directed to 3 small LCD panels that
process the red, green, and blue light components separately. The pixels in each panel regulate the amount of light passing
through them by twisting and untwisting in response to tiny electrical voltages. |
Then the three colored beams are combined by a prism and projected onto your projector screen by a lens.
One advantage to LCD projectors over DLP projectors is that LCD projectors are not susceptible to the "rainbow effect" that viewers sometimes experience as scenes transition from black to white while watching DLP projectors.
Disadvantages to LCD projectors include the possibility of the "screen-door effect" especially with lower resolution video sources, and black levels and contrast ratios that are not as deep as competing front projector technologies. |
